Yi Yun Art will participate in Art Taichung 2026 with a presentation titled “Between Time and Matter,” featuring works by eleven artists: Yu Cheng Yao, Yu Peng, Bu Zi, Huang Chien Liang, Yamamoto Hisashi, Meng Qiang, Chang Ling, Muran, Yanque, Higashi Marie, and Zhou Meng. The presentation spans ink painting, calligraphy, printmaking, sculpture, and mixed-media practices.
“Between Time and Matter” focuses on the generative process through which time, the body, and materials interact within artistic creation. Yu Cheng Yao, Yu Peng, Bu Zi, Huang Chien Liang, and Yamamoto Hisashi begin from ink painting and writing, allowing brushwork and traces of ink to become extensions of the body, speed, consciousness, and cultivation. Meng Qiang, Yanque, and Zhou Meng each bring forth the distinctive qualities of their chosen materials, revealing matter’s own sense of presence and spatiality. Chang Ling, Muran, and Higashi Marie, respectively working with oil paint, woodblock printmaking, and mixed-media painting techniques, present the shifting relationships between color and pictorial order as time unfolds.
Art Taichung will, for the first time, shift from hotel-room presentations to a booth format with exhibition walls. Compared with the former room-based setting, this new format offers a more open and focused viewing condition, allowing the works to be perceived in a visual environment closer to that of a white cube. Fine traces of brush and ink, layered painterly textures, materially rich visual languages, and the spatial tension of large-scale works will be more fully presented within this exhibition format.
