Weng Jhen-Ling（翁榛羚）

Born in Taipei in 1996, Weng Jhen-Ling received her M.F.A. in Ink Painting from Taipei National University of the Arts. Her practice begins with the tension between the inner self and outward appearance, and extends to questions of reality and illusion, distortions of human nature, and the recurrence of history, often approached with a satirical edge. Hunched figures recur throughout her work as symbols of blind conformity, populating strange and unsettling landscapes. Working primarily with copperplate etching and incense burning, Weng explores new possibilities within traditional East Asian aesthetics. Weng received the Next Art Tainan Award in 2025 and was selected for MIT Young Artists Connection with the World in 2024. In 2023, she received the Grand Prize, Kaohsiung Award and was selected for The 2nd CTBC Contemporary Painting Prize. She also received the Grand Prize, Nanying Award in 2022. In 2025, she was selected for The 92nd Japan Print Association Exhibition, held at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum in Tokyo.
